Some of the most powerful interventions I recommend to patients are practically free.
This is why you tend not to hear about them. Sunlight, miracle mineral solution, and DMSO are not sponsoring any podcasts, cruises, or dinners for doctors or influencers. This is part of why I offer a paid subscription here at Substack. Your subscriptions fuel my writing habit, which I greatly appreciate.
However, it is the duty of anyone with a genuine love of humanity to share great therapeutics, regardless of whether or not we are paid to do so.
The zeta potential is, I would say, one of the top three cheap and highly effective therapeutics that I have come across in 20 years of being in and around integrative medicine.
I will leave the basic science of zeta potential to A Midwestern Doctor. I am going to cover exactly how I use it in my practice in this post, which I think will be much more practical for people.
Who has a broken zeta potential?
If you are struggling with:
Fatigue
Kidney or gallbladder stones
Blood clots
Mental health issues
Pain
Weakness
Poor sleep
Digestive issues
Oxalate intolerance
Histamine intolerance
Then this post is for you. Improving your zeta potential may be the key to your recovery.
Many of my current patients come to mind as I write this. I am eager to share this with them and with you, and hope you will also take the time to read it and act upon it.
Zeta Potential: What It Is and Why It Matters
Zeta potential (in this context) refers to the tendency for particles suspended within your blood to repel one another. For optimal health, particles within your blood must repel one another. Much of the disease we associate with aging has to do with particles within the blood clumping together. Chronic, mild clumping is what happens when the particles oxidize and then aggregate along the blood vessel wall - think "heart disease" or "coronary artery calcification." Severe, acute clumping results in strokes and heart attacks from frank clots occluding blood flow (there are other contributors to strokes and heart attacks, for the record, but clumping of particles within blood are a major factor).
When we are healthy, our bodies are in a state of balance where there are adequate negative charges within the blood to maintain optimal blood flow. As the body becomes burdened by toxins and stress, stores of these negative charges deteriorate until finally disease manifests.
What are some data-driven clues that you have a low zeta potential?
You have:
Low vitamin D
Low magnesium
Low potassium
Low zinc
Low copper
High levels of inflammation
High levels of fibrinogen activity
Elevated hemoglobin A1C, fasting glucose, or insulin levels
Elevated ferritin and iron levels
Low bicarbonate levels
Low morning urinary pH
Low omega-3 levels
Low HRV
High respiratory rate
Poor organ function (think kidneys, liver, heart, and lungs)
Poor exercise capacity or tolerance
What can we do about a low zeta potential?
Start with the habits in the 14-Day Reset.
Add things like sauna and photobiomodulation.
Throw in some earthing.
Take the right supplements.
And use the following recipe three times daily.
Zeta Aid: The Supplement to Boost Zeta Potential
Combine (links below are to the exact products I have used):
In one liter of distilled or reverse osmosis water
If you prefer to just buy the product pre-made, here is the source I first discovered and have used personally.
DO NOT drink this mixture. This is to be diluted in more reverse osmosis or distilled water, and then consumed.
DO NOT use this solution if you have poor kidney function, because the load of potassium will exceed what your kidneys may be able to filter.
Take AWAY FROM food (at least 30 minutes). The point is to get the potassium and negatively charged electrolytes into your blood. Food will slow or impede this process. Food won’t neutralize this product, but it will slow down absorption. For best results, take away from food.
Once you’ve made the original solution, you dilute it in more reverse osmosis or distilled water. The exact recipe is 15 ml of this mixture to 16 ounces of reverse osmosis or distilled water. That's one tablespoon per 16 ounce glass or 1.5 teaspoons per 8 ounce glass. Note that tablespoons and teaspoons vary from product to product, so I use a actual teaspoon or tablespoon measure.
I recommend that my patients drink this up to three times daily, depending upon their tolerance for potassium. Some people are sensitive to potassium and it can drop their blood pressure. This is why consulting with a practitioner is a must for your care. I start with once daily and then increase as tolerated.
I love zeta potential. This is one of the best ways to improve your health and it costs next to nothing. I also suspect it will be the missing puzzle piece for many people who have been chasing their tails in the health and wellness information space for years and years. If you have a good story about how improving your zeta potential improved your life, please post it in the comments.
Until next time, be well,
Dr. Stillman
A Midwestern Doctor is a genius. I have read all his work. It’s good to see so many in the medical industry agree about these treatments. I have used DMSO to cure acne and also the concept around zeta potential to heal immune systems
How often to take the mixture of potassium and sodium ?
