The webinar I'm hosting with Jim Laird on Saturday, April 29th is on one of the single most important topics in health and wellness.
I titled it, “Secrets of Health and Wellness in 2023.”
So what’s the big secret?
I’ll let you in on it, since you’re subscribed to my blog.
It’s the fundamentals.
That’s it. Nothing fancy. Things so mundane that they hardly seem worth Tweeting, blogging, Instagramming, or Facebooking about.
And that’s why it’s so important that we have a webinar on them!
Why do the fundamentals get so little love?
It’s a simple quirk of human nature.
People tend to focus on their illness, rather than their wellness. This is a catastrophic, though seemingly inconsequential, distinction.
What do I mean by that? If you have thyroid problems, you tend to focus on the thyroid. If you have gut problems, you tend to focus on the gut. If you have mental health issues, you tend to focus on the mind.
But all the body's systems are connected. A problem in a seemingly healthy organ, like the stomach or small intestine, may be entirely silent (asymptomatic). Yet when we identify and treat it, a seemingly independent problem, such as headaches, palpitations, or fatigue, may disappear as well.
Everything is connected on a fundamental level. There are fundamental habits that, when neglected, predictably ruin your health, performance, and happiness.
We see this all the time. We call these habits and choices, "The Fundamentals of Wellness," and we've created a course to help you understand them.
The trouble is, "Fundamentals of Wellness," doesn't sell as well to the human mind as, "Fix Your Leaky Gut," or, "Heal Your Hormones." There's nothing wrong with focusing on a specific organ system or problem - I do this as well to cater to the interests of my audience. But if you do it at the expense of the fundamentals, you'll likely be disappointed in your results.
That’s why I titled the webinar, “Secrets of Health and Wellness in 2023.”
It’s honestly something of an inside joke. What we’ll be sharing are only secrets in the sense that people think they understand them, when in fact they are sometimes almost entirely ignorant of them.
That’s why Jim and I spend so much time hammering home the fundamentals, while other people are focusing on… everything else.
What are the fundamentals of wellness? They are the universal habits that Jim and I agree make the greatest difference in people's lives, and that are easy enough to integrate into your daily routine.
The most important part of the fundamentals - and this is another critical point that is lost on most - is consistency. Consistency is critical to long-term success.
Jim and I see this all the time in our clients and patients. When they see their health worsen, invariably they have let go of their fundamental habits and are too "stressed."
Stress is the number one reason people fall out of healthy, fundamental habits. But it doesn't have to be this way. What differentiates great performers and the highest achievers is that even when circumstances are at their worst, their fundamentals remain sound.
Why do people tend to lose in major sporting events? They make errors in their fundamentals. They get sloppy, they get distracted, and they make what are simple, fundamental mistakes under pressure.
Why are sports legends legendary? Where you find a sporting legend, you will find someone who has an unshakeable devotion to the fundamentals.
Why do soldiers rely on training? Why do they drill and drill and drill until they can do seemingly unimportant things with their eyes closed, such as assembling or disassembling a firearm? Because in the heat of battle, survival often comes down to fundamental choices and habits that are learned through consistent, seemingly excessive, boredom-inducing practice.
Don't worry - we're not going to bore you with the fundamentals. We're going to make sure you get them - each and every one of them - and that you understand how to implement them consistently in your life.
Our upcoming webinar, Secrets of Health and Wellness in 2023, is going to be one of the most important that we ever record. Register today. You won't want to miss it!
Until next time, be well,
Dr. Stillman
I wasn’t able to make the webinar. Will the recording be posted?
I have had a sneak peek and I believe it's worth it. Having access to the Group coaching to pick their brains will be amazing.
